The best couples weekend
romantic getaways

Three romantic getaways for three different romantics

Every love story is different, so when we started dreaming up a list of ideas for romantic getaways, we realized it was endless. Here’s a look at three different getaway itineraries, offering a unique spin for different lovebirds.

The best romantic getaways
for fine dining enthusiasts

There’s an old saying that food is the way to a man’s heart. (And it can have the same effect on women, too.) So if you’re trying to sweep your special someone off his or her feet, you might consider a savory getaway. We’ve created a culinary itinerary for you at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. This historic hotel offers a decadent array of dining options in The Restaurants at Palm Court, three distinct outlets sharing one expansive Art Deco area.

Begin your date night feasting on contemporary American cuisine at the AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Four Star Orchids at Palm Court, where American Culinary Federation’s USA Chef of the Year Todd Kelly will tantalize your taste buds. Orchids features an extensive wine list by Maitre d’ Charles Redmond and desserts by Bravo’s Top Chef: Just Desserts “cheftestant” Megan Ketover.

After dinner, escape to The Bar at Palm Court where you can snack on its relaxed menu or drink up specialty cocktails. Friday and Saturday offer up live jazz music. Meanwhile, the bar, voted “Most Romantic Bar,” was originally a ticket booth at Union Terminal, the city’s former train station. After your romantic night, start the day with room service or head down to The Grille at Palm Court, which whips up casual breakfast and a scrumptious buffet every day.

The best romantic getaways
for an indulgent getaway

A romantic getaway should be brimming with indulgences – the kind that leave a person feeling uplifted, pampered and fulfilled. Simply put, this itinerary is for romantics who like to immerse themselves in life’s most decadent pleasures. Welcome to The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a 3,000-acre complex of sweeping amenities and unparalleled experiences.

Start your couple’s weekend with a spirited game of golf at The Broadmoor, named the Best Golf Course in North America by Golf Magazine. Featuring three ways to play – the West Course, Mountain Course and East Course – The Broadmoor pairs your every par with stunning views of the blue-tinged Rocky Mountains.

After a morning of golf, visit The Spa at The Broadmoor’s third-floor enclave, rated a five-star spa by the Forbes Travel Guide. For the ultimate couple’s getaway, pick the Wine Down Therapy Package, which harnesses the antioxidant power of chardonnay grape-seed extract. Starting with a Chardonnay Sugar Scrub, this treatment transitions into a Swedish massage with Olavie Wine Therapy Oil, a Spa Manicure and a Signature Pedicure.

End the day at one of Broadmoor’s 19 unique dining options, including the Five-Star, Five Diamond Penrose Room. For a more relaxed evening, visit the late-night lounge with six lanes of bowling and an authentic English pub.

The best romantic getaways
for adventure seekers

There’s nothing like revving up your endorphins on a romantic getaway. Nestled in the middle of western Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains, The Omni Homestead Resort is the perfect playground for a couple’s getaway.

The list of activities at this sprawling 2,000-acre resort is endless thanks to its splendid four-season climate. In summer, the area is ripe with tennis, falconry, hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, trap, skeet shooting and more. The resort also features two golf courses, along with a two-acre, spring-fed water complex, complete with a lazy river and water slides. In the winter, skiing, snowboarding, tubing and skating entertain adventure-seeking romantics.

But of all the activities, few compare to The Omni Homestead Resort’s natural hot springs, the largest of its kind at a Virginia hotel. Two major springs flow onto the property, where guests can take in the mineral waters (just as President Thomas Jefferson did in 1818) for a truly rejuvenating adventure.
